There’s a huge difference between ‘being alive’ and ‘living.’ So if you’re wondering how Occupational Therapy (OT) can help you, quite simply, it’s life-changing. And we’re here to help you achieve what matters to you!
You may have had a recent injury or illness, or long term condition, that affects your day-to-day. Getting a shower, making your dinner, trying to get back to work, or you’re in pain because your chair wasn’t made for you and it’s difficult to move.
We see you in your own environment so you don’t have to travel. That could be at your house, or in a care home. We want to know what you struggle with the most, moving the focus from what you can’t do, to what you can, and to be as independent as possible.
We’ll work together to help you realise your potential to ‘live’ again.
Moving and Handling Support and Advice
We use the most up-to-date guidance, and advice will be given on how to move safely, as well as recommendations for equipment if felt needed.
Support with Activities of Daily living
• How you manage around the house and outdoors. The assessment will aim to understand your daily routine; to build confidence in activities such as getting washed and dressed, preparing food, going up and downstairs.
Falls assessments and advice
Falling is not part of growing old, niether is it something that we should be scared of. We offer Comprhensive falls assessments and environmental assessments to ensure you're as safe and happy as you can be in your own home.
Seating Assessments
Being chair-bound for large parts of your day can get uncomfortable, and even painful. You may struggle to reposition yourself if you slip, you may struggle with bad posture, and your skin may be at risk. We help to find seating that meets your needs.
End of life goals
Although this can be a really sensitive thing to talk about, it is very important to an individual to achieve that one last thing. We will do our best to support your wishes as you approach the end of your life; for you and your family to cherish
