We’re delighted to share that OT4Life has won the Yorkshire Prestige Award for excellence in healthcare.
We were nominated by a client, along with hundreds of healthcare businesses across the region who were nominated this year. Out of those businesses, ten made the shortlist, and from those, OT4Life was chosen as the winner. What makes this award so special is that judges commented that it was based on the voices of the patients we work with every day - their feedback, their stories, and the way they’ve trusted us to be part of their journey.
This isn’t just an award for us - it’s proof that with dedication, persistence, and a lot of hard work, you can turn dreams into reality. It shows how powerful Occupational Therapy can be in changing lives: helping people regain independence, take part in the things that matter to them, and live with dignity and confidence.
Aaron OT4life Director commented I'm overjoyed to receive our first award in just 18 months of business. This would not be possible without the commitment from the OT4Life team, our amazing clients, and the wider community who’ve supported us from day one. This award belongs to all of you. For the younger generation looking on, let this be a lesson: no matter where you start and what you start with, by showing passion, commitment, and belief in what you do, anything is possible and the sky is the limit.
What Our clients Say
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Occupational Therapy and how could OT4Life help me?
Occupational Therapy focuses on helping people participate as safely and independently as possible in the everyday activities that matter to them.
At OT4Life, we look beyond a diagnosis and consider how your health, mobility, strength, cognition, pain, fatigue, environment and support needs affect everyday life.
Depending on your needs, this may include assessment and recommendations relating to personal care, mobility, transfers, rehabilitation, specialist equipment, seating, moving and handling, home adaptations, housing needs or returning to everyday activities.
Do I need a GP or NHS referral to use OT4Life?
No. As an independent Occupational Therapy service, you can contact OT4Life directly.
Referrals can also be made by family members, carers, care providers, case managers, solicitors and other healthcare professionals, provided the appropriate consent is in place.
Who can refer someone to OT4Life?
We accept referrals from individuals themselves as well as relatives, healthcare professionals, case managers, care homes, domiciliary care providers and other organisations.
Where somebody is referring on behalf of another person, we will ensure that appropriate consent and information sharing arrangements are considered before proceeding.
Is OT4Life an NHS service?
No. OT4Life is an independent Occupational Therapy practice and our assessments are privately funded unless another organisation has agreed to fund the service.
We can, however, work alongside NHS teams, local authorities, social care services, case managers and other professionals where this is beneficial.
What happens during an Occupational Therapy assessment?
The assessment will depend on the reason for referral.
We will normally discuss your current situation, medical and functional history, the activities you are finding difficult and what you would like to achieve.
Where appropriate, the Occupational Therapist will observe everyday activities such as walking, transferring, getting on and off furniture, accessing the bathroom, using equipment or moving around the home.
We consider the person, the activity being completed and the environment in which it takes place. This allows recommendations to be based on what actually happens in everyday life rather than assumptions about what somebody should be able to manage.
Will I receive a written report?
Where a report forms part of the assessment, you will receive a clear written summary of the Occupational Therapist's findings, clinical reasoning and recommendations.
The level of detail will depend upon the type and purpose of the assessment.
Reports may also be prepared for case managers, care providers, housing services, solicitors or other professionals where this has been agreed.
How much does an Occupational Therapy assessment cost?
The cost depends on the type and complexity of assessment required, the location of the visit, travel requirements and whether additional work such as equipment trials, professional liaison or detailed reporting is required.
Several of our standard assessments start from £299.
We will discuss the likely cost with you before proceeding so that you understand what is included.
Where does OT4Life provide assessments?
OT4Life is based in Wakefield and regularly works across West Yorkshire and the wider North of England.
This includes areas such as Wakefield, Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield and Halifax, with assessments also available further afield depending on the nature of the referral.
For specialist or professional referrals, we can discuss travel outside our usual area.
Can assessments take place in my own home?
Yes. Much of our work is completed within the person's own home because this allows us to understand how they actually manage within their normal environment.
We also provide assessments within care homes, supported living environments, workplaces and other appropriate settings.
Some consultations may also be completed virtually where this is clinically appropriate.
Can OT4Life work with my family, carers or other professionals?
Yes.
Occupational Therapy recommendations are often most effective when everyone involved understands the plan.
With your consent, we can liaise with family members, carers, case managers, healthcare professionals, equipment providers, architects, builders, employers or other relevant professionals.
What should I do if I am unsure which OT4Life service I need?
You do not need to work this out before contacting us.
Tell us what is happening, what you are concerned about and what you would like to change.
We can then advise whether Occupational Therapy is appropriate and which type of assessment is likely to be most useful.
Move better. Feel better. Live better.
