All referrals are reviewed to ensure that the requested assessment falls within our clinical scope of practice.

Yes. OT4Life can provide independent clinical Occupational Therapy assessments and rehabilitation services for individuals who may also be involved in personal injury claims, clinical negligence cases or other legal proceedings.
Our assessments focus on identifying functional difficulties, rehabilitation needs, specialist equipment requirements, care considerations and environmental barriers affecting everyday life.
We provide professional clinical reports outlining our findings, observations, recommendations and supporting clinical reasoning.
However, OT4Life does not undertake expert witness work or prepare formal medico legal expert reports intended for use as expert evidence in court proceedings.
Does OT4Life provide expert witness reports?
No.
OT4Life does not provide expert witness services, accept instructions as a court appointed expert or prepare reports under Civil Procedure Rules Part 35.
Our work focuses on independent clinical assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and practical recommendations.
Solicitors requiring a formal expert witness report should instruct an appropriately qualified professional who offers that service.
Can solicitors instruct OT4Life directly?
Yes.
We welcome referrals from solicitors seeking independent clinical Occupational Therapy input for their clients.
This may include functional assessments, rehabilitation planning, specialist seating, moving and handling, equipment recommendations and housing or adaptation assessments.
Before accepting a referral, we will clarify the purpose of the assessment and ensure that the requested work falls within our clinical services.
We do not accept instructions requiring formal expert witness evidence.
Can an OT4Life clinical report support a client's rehabilitation or care planning?
Yes.
Our reports provide an assessment of the individual's functional abilities, identified difficulties, environmental considerations and clinical recommendations.
These reports can assist solicitors, case managers and other professionals in understanding a client's rehabilitation and support needs.
Recommendations may include specialist equipment, housing adaptations, therapeutic intervention, moving and handling arrangements or support with everyday activities.
Our reports are prepared for clinical purposes and should not be represented as formal medico legal expert evidence.
Can OT4Life assess how an injury or disability affects someone's everyday life?
Yes.
We assess the practical impact of illness, injury or disability on an individual's ability to participate in everyday activities.
This may include personal care, domestic activities, mobility, transfers, community access, employment, leisure and family responsibilities.
Our holistic approach also considers fatigue, pain, cognitive functioning, psychological wellbeing and environmental factors where relevant to occupational performance.
The objective is to identify functional barriers and recommend interventions that improve independence, participation and quality of life.
Can OT4Life provide clinical justification for specialist equipment, adaptations or rehabilitation?
Yes.
We can provide clinical assessments and written recommendations explaining why particular equipment, adaptations or rehabilitation interventions may be necessary.
Our reports consider the individual's functional needs, identified risks, potential benefits and available alternatives.
This provides case managers, solicitors and funding organisations with clear clinical reasoning to support rehabilitation planning and consideration of proposed expenditure.
Can OT4Life work alongside solicitors, case managers and other professionals?
Yes.
We recognise the importance of coordinated rehabilitation, particularly for individuals with complex injuries or long term disabilities.
With appropriate consent, we can communicate with solicitors, case managers, treating therapists, care providers and specialist equipment suppliers.
Our role is to provide independent clinical advice and intervention that supports the individual's rehabilitation and everyday functioning.
Can OT4Life assist with housing and environmental assessments?
Yes.
We undertake housing assessments to establish how an individual's current accommodation supports or restricts their functional abilities.
This may involve assessing access, mobility, wheelchair circulation, bathrooms, bedrooms, personal care facilities, equipment requirements and the potential need for adaptations.
Our recommendations can inform rehabilitation planning, discussions about property suitability and consideration of alternative accommodation.
We do not provide expert witness housing reports for court proceedings.
